Chelsea youngster wants loan move
Chelsea goalkeeper Sam Walker says he is keen to spend more time out on loan this season.
Walker spent the whole of last term away from Stamford Bridge, playing for first Northampton and then Yeovil. He has also had a loan spell at Barnet.
The 20-year-old will join the Blues’ Under-21 squad on a pre-season trip to Austria before considering his options for the coming campaign.
“I’ll do pre-season with Chelsea and then we’ll see what happens nearer the start of the season,” Walker told West London Sport.
“I think, ideally, I’d like to go back out on loan and get more experience. That would definitely be the aim.
“Having had half a season in League Two and half in League One, I’d say the Championship is certainly an option. We’ll see what happens.”
Walker is under contract at Chelsea until 2014 and the club appear pleased with his progress in recent months.
“I’ve had a chat with Chelsea and they’re happy with how things are,” he said.
“I was out on loan for all of last season, so they haven’t really had a chance to look at me in training to see how I’ve progressed.
“So it’s good for me to spend this time with Chelsea, get ready for the season and then see what the next move is.”
