Chelsea’s Beeney joins Sligo Rovers on loan

Goalkeeper Mitchell Beeney has joined Irish top-flight side Sligo Rovers on loan from Chelsea for the rest of the season.

Beeney, 22, has been with Chelsea for more than 10 years and was part of the club’s 2014 FA Youth Cup-winning side.

He has not made a senior appearance for the Blues but has had first-team experience during loan spells at Newport County and Crawley Town.

He spent the first half of last season on loan at Crawley but managed just four appearances, one of which came in the league.

Beeney also made four appearances for Newport, where he spent a month on loan in 2016.
