Derby boss Steve McClaren hailed Patrick Bamford after the striker’s moment of “sheer quality and class” secured victory against Sheffield Wednesday.
Bamford’s 78th-minute goal gave the Rams a 1-0 win that took them above QPR into third place the Championship.
It was the 20-year-old’s fifth goal in seven appearances since his loan move from Chelsea.
“It was sheer quality and class to win what was a scrappy game,” McClaren declared.
“He can frustrate you and sometimes flits in and out of games, but he is a match-winner. He scores important goals – they’re not just any goals.
“We’re just delighted we have got him and we are very surprised at how well he has done.”
