Chelsea v Peterborough player ratings
Chelsea booked their fourth round place with a resounding FA Cup win against Peterborough at Stamford Bridge. Here’s how we rated each Blues player in the 4-1 victory.
Asmir Begovic: 6
Produced an early close-range save to deny Lee Angol. Had little else to do.
Branislav Ivanovic: 5
Good to see the old warhorse back out there – an increasingly rare sighting these days. The right wing-back position is not exactly his forte, however, and it showed.
Kurt Zouma: 6
Took a first-half clattering and the big man looked a little rusty – which was hardly surprising after his long lay-off. He will be delighted to have played for 90 minutes.
John Terry: 5
Sent off for a last-man challenge on Angol on 67 minutes to ruin what was only the skipper’s sixth start of the season. Forced a save with one thunderous right-foot effort in the first half.
Gary Cahill: 6
Hardly the most arduous of days but Posh still gave him plenty to do. He remained switched on.
Cesc Fabregas: 7
A first-half booking typified his determination to get stuck in rather than just look for eye-catching assists. Served a great pass in the build up to the third goal.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek: 7
A good provider. Claimed an assist for the second goal and offered up an earlier chance to Pedro on a plate that was spurned. Slid one clear opening wide in the second half, but always imposing and intimidating.
Willian: 8
A typically fleet-footed and energetic contribution. No surprise that he got in on the goalscoring act himself by bagging the third with a typical cut-in and low drive.
Pedro: 8
Seemed to enjoy his left wing-back brief. An expert finish to put the Blues ahead after picking up the rebound from a parried Chalobah drive. Missed a sitter – smacking the crossbar from close in – but made amends by adding a second to his tally late on.
Nathaniel Chalobah: 7
Missed a great chance after being teed up by Willian in the second half but was always involved and an untamed midfield presence.
Michy Batshuayi: 6
Did not lack opportunities, and got on the scoresheet when Loftus-Cheek rolled a perfect pass to him just before the break. A little frustrated not to have plundered more against wilting opponents.
Ola Aina: 6
On for Cahill around the hour mark. A comfortable cameo for the young defender.
