Chelsea v Everton player ratings

John Terry’s controversial goal in injury time rescued a point for his team against Everton. Here’s how we rated Chelsea’s players in the dramatic 3-3 draw at Stamford Bridge.

Thibaut Courtois: 7
Made a smart first-half save to deny Kevin Mirallas and an even better one in the second half to deny the Everton forward with his legs with the score at 2-2.

Branislav Ivanovic: 5
Two goals came from Leighton Baines crosses that Ivanovic would have hoped to prevent. Overall, he struggled.

Kurt Zouma: 7
Long strides, timely interceptions and great blocks. The French defender was up for the challenge Everton’s tricky forward line threw up. Turned by Mirallas for Everton’s second goal but otherwise had a very good game.

John Terry: 6
Who else but the skipper would recover from an embarrassing own goal to come up with a 98th-minute equaliser? Typically the driving force when the going got tough and was determined to push his side over the line.

Cesar Azpilicueta: 7
The masked crusader had another fine game, shoring up his side and always looking to get forward to add ballast to attacks.

John Mikel Obi: 7
Continues to enjoy his spell of rejuvenation. A really good presence for the Blues, adding bite in midfield and always alert to the menace of Ross Barkley.

Nemanja Matic: 6
Gave as good as he got during a first-half stalemate characterised by lack of space and lots of physicality. Replaced by Oscar after Everton’s opener.

Cesc Fabregas: 8
Back to the influence of old and constantly on the ball. His clever long pass gave Diego Costa the opportunity to make it 2-1 before he fired in the equaliser after picking up a Costa backheel.

Willian: 8
Another impressive shift from Willian, even if, for once, he was not directly involved in the goals. Almost blasted in an opener and had an uncanny ability to turn past tight markers and launch attacks.

Pedro: 6
A player with something to prove after being eclipsed by substitute Kenedy in the midweek draw with West Brom, the former Barcelona player was hungry for the ball but burnt himself out by half-time. Taken off after 67 minutes.

Diego Costa: 7
Usual spats with opponents and agricultural challenges mixed with a tireless desire to get involved. This time, there was an end product, however. Scored the first and laid on the second before going off with a shin injury 10 minutes from time.

Oscar: 5
Replaced Matic on 55 minutes. Still not quite able to influence the game as he would like and struggled to pick up the frenetic pace in the final half-hour.

Kenedy: 6
A perfectly-timed introduction by Guus Hiddink. Offered fresh legs as Pedro’s influence was waning and injected purpose in attack.
