Chelsea to assess Kenedy injury
Chelsea will assess a groin injury Kenedy picked up during their 2-1 win at Norwich.
The 20-year-old Brazilian scored after just 39 seconds of the game at Carrow Road – his first Premier League goal.
Kennedy was substituted on the hour mark but boss Guus Hiddink said after the match he was hopeful the problem would prove to be a minor one.
Chelsea’s win took them up to eighth in the table and they remain unbeaten in the league under Hiddink, who replaced Baba with Kenedy at left-back.
The Dutchman, whose side face Stoke at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, also handed a first league start to Bertrand Traore, who set up Diego Costa for Chelsea’s second goal.
“Kenedy was subbed because he has what is hopefully only a small injury in his groin,” said Hiddink.
“They (Kenedy and Traore) are knocking on the door. It is always good to see youngsters play.
“They work seriously in training and then you have to play them, especially when there is a tight schedule.
“They need the experience of playing from the start in intense Premier League games, which is why I don’t hesitate to bring them in.
“Traore came on in the previous games and had good appearances, with goals. Starting is a little bit different but it’s good to have that experience.”
