Chelsea ‘can still lose it’ – Wenger
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has insisted that Premier League leaders Chelsea can be caught.
The Gunners are fourth in the table and will fall 12 points behind the Blues if Antonio Conte’s side beat Stoke City on Saturday.
But Wenger, whose team beat Chelsea 3-0 in September, believes the title race is far from over.
“At the moment Chelsea is the super-favourite, but we can make a big difference,” he said.
“It’s theirs to lose, as we say in England, but they can still lose it. There’s still a long way to go.”
Chelsea have looked unstoppable since changing their formation in the wake of that defeat at the Emirates Stadium.
Victory over Stoke would see them notch a 13th consecutive league win, moving closer to Arsenal’s Premier League record of 14.
“It’s fantastic if they do it. It’s absolutely marvelous because nobody expected that at the start of the season – they had a little bit of a dodgy start,” said Wenger.
“Since they changed their system they have been on a run and confidence plays its part.
“If they do it, you can only say ‘well done’. Records are there to be beaten. If somebody does better than you, you have to acknowledge it.
“They have addressed the problems they had well, to find the solution that has balanced their team.”
