Chelsea star Mount suffers ankle ligament damage

Mason Mount looks to be facing a spell on the sidelines after going off with an ankle injury against Palmeiras.

Chelsea beat the Brazilian side 2-1 in Abu Dhabi to win the Club World Cup.

But Mount went off just after the half-hour mark and boss Thomas Tuchel later revealed that the England midfielder appears to have suffered ligament damage.


Chelsea will assess the extent of the injury over the next 48 hours.

Mount seems almost certain to miss Saturday’s Premier League game at Crystal Palace.
