Chelsea stunned again as Bournemouth win at the Bridge

Glenn Murray’s 82nd-minute goal condemned troubled Chelsea to another shock home defeat.

The Bournemouth substitute headed home from close range to stun the Blues, who have now lost eight Premier League matches this season and three of their last five league games at Stamford Bridge.

Thibaut Courtois, back after three months out with a knee injury, could only punch a corner as far as Steve Cook, who hooked the ball towards the far post for Murray to apply the finishing touch from a couple of yards out.

Bournemouth had been under pressure for much of the second half, but caused Chelsea problems in the first – Courtois was twice called into action in the opening quarter of an hour.

After Chelsea gave the ball away in the Cherries half, Josh King stormed through the middle and found Junior Stanislas, whose shot was well saved.

And Blues keeper Courtois rescued his team again by diving to his left to keep out King’s low shot after a lovely Bournemouth move culminated in Dan Gosling teeing up the Norwegian striker.

Chelsea again played without a recognised striker, and struggled to create chances, until Diego Costa was introduced at half-time.

Costa was in the thick of the action in the second half and had an effort saved by keeper Artur Boruc.

But the hosts’ best chance fell to Nemanja Matic, who headed over from Willian’s deflected cross.
