Chelsea striker Solanke injured in Under-23 game

Striker Dominic Solanke picked up an injury playing for Chelsea’s Under-23 side against Manchester United on Sunday.

Kyle Scott scored for the visitors in a 1-1 draw at Leigh Sport Village Stadium, where an own goal by Joseph Colley brought United level.

Prolific forward Solanke is wanted by a number of clubs on loan, but he could be facing a spell on the sidelines following a first-half challenge from Scott McTominay.

Solanke attempted to carry on but was eventually forced to come off.

Scott opened the scoring just before half-time when he was able to net from close range after keeper Sam Johnstone fumbled Jay Dasilva’s left-wing cross.

The goal came just after Josi Quintero almost put Chelsea ahead when his effort was stopped on the line by United defender Axel Tuanzebe.

Chelsea keeper Bradley Collins made second-half saves to deny Demetri Mitchell and Josh Harrop.

But Collins was beaten when Colley diverted the ball into his own net as he attempted to cut out Regan Poole’s cross.
