Kante must not be rushed back – Wilkins
Ray Wilkins has insisted Chelsea cannot afford to take any risks with N’Golo Kante’s fitness against Manchester United.
The French midfielder, who recently returned to training, has been badly missed while sidelined with a hamstring injury and the Blues are hoping he will return for Sunday’s clash with United at Stamford Bridge.
But Wilkins, who played for both clubs, says Chelsea would be foolish to rush Kante back sooner than he is ready and potentially risk him suffering a more serious injury.
“The way he plays, he’s all energy and all life, so that (an injury setback) can happen,” Wilkins said.
“So unless he’s 100% fit, you cannot risk this guy because if it does happen that he tears that hamstring massively that’s two or three months out.
“They’ve got to give him time. If he’s not quite there then don’t play him.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea youngsters Tammy Abraham and Ruben Loftus-Cheek have been included in the senior England squad for the first time.
