Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola has backed Roberto Di Matteo to steady the ship at Stamford Bridge.
Placed in interim charge following the sacking of Andre Villas-Boas as manager, Di Matteo made a promising start by guiding the team through tricky FA Cup replay at Birmingham on Tuesday.
And Zola, still a hero among Chelsea fans, believes his former team-mate can maintain that momentum.
“Roberto has got a big opportunity and I personally believe he’s got the qualities to do a good job,” Zola told the Press Association.
“I really hope that he’s going to do well. He’s a Chelsea boy as well, he’s a Chelsea hero, and so he’s well represented.”
