Eden Hazard is back in training and could return to the Chelsea squad for Sunday’s match against Norwich.
The Belgian missed this week’s Champions League victory against Steaua Bucharest because of an ankle problem but his condition has improved.
Hazard will be assessed ahead of the game at Carrow Road, for which Blues striker Fernando Torres is suspended and would have missed in any case as he has a knee injury.
Torres is expected to be sidelined for three weeks and the Spaniard’s absence means Demba Ba and recent signing Samuel Eto’o are Chelsea’s only available strikers.
Nevertheless, boss Jose Mourinho has again insisted that he does not regret his decision to send Romelu Lukaku on loan to Everton.
“One thing is to play for Everton, another thing is to play for Chelsea,” said Mourinho.
But he admitted: “In relation to my team at this moment, we are not strong enough to be dominant in every match and win consecutively. That is my point of view.
“I think the league will be open until the end. At this moment some teams are being helped by the fixtures – some are more difficult than others.”
