Chelsea hopeful over Hazard injury
Steve Holland says Chelsea are hopeful Eden Hazard will return “sooner rather than later” from a calf problem.
Hazard missed the Blues’ win at Swansea, where a 1-0 victory kept Jose Mourinho’s side just two points behind leaders Liverpool in the race for the title.
Chelsea face Liverpool at Anfield on 27 April and will want their talisman available for what could turn out to be a season-defining game.
Assistant first-team coach Holland said: “We have a very good injury situation. Every player is fit with the exception of Eden.
“He should be back sooner rather than later. It’s still a little bit too early to say for sure.”
Demba Ba’s goal midway through the second half meant Chelsea were able to keep up the pressure on Liverpool, who beat third-placed Manchester City earlier in the day.
“It’s a fantastic three points for us and it was very much a case of getting over the line,” Holland declared.
“Not much has changed. We’re five points clear of Man City who have two games more to play. If they win all their matches they finish ahead of Chelsea.
“It’s been a good day for Liverpool and it looks like being an exciting conclusion to the season for everybody.”
