Chelsea ‘have no untouchables’ after poor start – Mourinho

Jose Mourinho has warned that none of his players are ‘untouchable’ following Chelsea’s poor start to the season.

The champions are 15th in the table after winning just two of their opening seven matches of the Premier League campaign.

Skipper John Terry has lost his place in the starting line-up and there has been speculation that other established players could be dropped.

And Blues boss Mourinho says recent results mean no-one can take their first-team spot for granted.

“To be untouchable, you have to be a fantastic player but you [also] have to be consistent,” he said.

“We have fantastic players – players who gave us the title last season, no doubts about it – but football is about today, not about yesterday.

“In football you have to be consistent. In this moment I don’t have untouchables. I have very good players, players I like very much. But untouchables? Only consistency can give you that.”

Mourinho was speaking ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League match against his former club Porto and insisted the hosts should not be underestimated.

“Porto have big hopes for the Champions League. Games away are always difficult in the Champions League and it will be difficult to play against them,” he said.
