Zouma to have scan after suffering injury
Chelsea fear Kurt Zouma could face a lengthy spell on the sidelines after he was stretchered off in the 1-1 draw with Manchester United.
The defender suffered a knee injury as he fell awkwardly during the second half of the match at Stamford Bridge and is due to have a scan on Monday.
Blues boss Guus Hiddink played down suggestions Zouma could miss the rest of the season, and the Dutchman was keen not to speculate on the seriousness of the injury.
But Zouma was in obvious pain as he was carried off and Hiddink admitted that the initial signs are not good.
“The rest of the season is hopefully too much, but tomorrow he will have an examination,” said Hiddink.
“Let’s not have too much speculation, but if you have seen the injury – it’s a hyperextension of the knee and that is very bad.
“Let’s touch wood and hopefully we will have some good news. There are several scenarios.
“Let’s wait until tomorrow and when we know we will give news. Let’s see what the scan will show.”
Diego Costa’s injury-time equaliser preserved Chelsea’s unbeaten record under Hiddink after Jesse Lingard’s goal had put the visitors ahead.
“United stretched us and have good players, but we created chances and I think we deserved a point in the end,” said Hiddink.
