Chelsea fans have role to play against Man Utd – Conte

Antonio Conte says Chelsea’s fans will have a part to play against Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United on Sunday.

The Blues boss played down suggestions his side would benefit from having had all week to prepare for the game, while United played on Monday and Thursday.

But Conte said the edge could come from playing in front of a passionate home crowd.

“The only advantage that we can have is that we play at home, with our fans,” Conte said.

“They are very important for us. On Sunday I think that our fans must have a role, a very important one during the game, to support the team. This is the advantage Chelsea can have on Sunday.”

Conte added, after defeats to Liverpool and Arsenal, he was confident of a better result against United having seen his team in training.

He said: “I want to see progress compared to Liverpool and Arsenal but I have confidence about this because I saw fantastic commitment this week.”
