Chelsea confirm signing of goalkeeper Amelia
Chelsea have confirmed the signing of ex-AC Milan goalkeeper Marco Amelia.
The former Italy international, who has signed until the end of the season, was a free agent and had been training with the Blues.
Blues manager Jose Mourinho had been keen to sign a goalkeeper to cover for Thibaut Courtois, who is likely to be out until December with a knee injury.
Amelia was part of Italy’s 2006 World Cup squad and last represented his country in 2009.
He has also been at Livorno, Palermo and Genoa, but has barely played since leaving AC Milan in 2014.
The 33-year-old was able to sign outside of the transfer window as he was not under contract with another club, and Chelsea have space left in their Premier League squad.
