Chelsea have formally completed the signing of Dutch international midfielder Marco van Ginkel from Vitesse Arnhem.
The 20-year-old has signed a five-year contract and becomes Chelsea’s second signing of the summer, joining German Andre Schurrle at Stamford Bridge.
“I’m very happy to be here at such a nice club with great players. I am really happy, the stadium is good and the training ground is fantastic,” he told the Blues’ website.
“I know all about all the players and will meet them on Monday. I expect a lot, I’ve watched matches and it’s really nice to be here.”
Van Ginkel, who has been with Vitesse since the age of seven, made his first-team debut in April 2010 and emerged as one of the rising stars of Dutch football last season as he helped the club to a top-four finish.
He won his first senior cap for the Netherlands against Germany last November and also played three of his country’s four matches in this summer’s European Under-21 Championships.
