Chelsea have struck a deal with Vitesse Arnhem to sign Dutch international midfielder Marco van Ginkel.
The 20-year-old will now need to agree personal terms with the Blues before becoming Jose Mourinho’s second signing of the summer.
Van Ginkel, who has been with Vitesse since the age of seven, made his first-team debut in April 2010 and emerged as one of the rising stars of Dutch football last season as he helped the club to a top-four finish.
He won his first senior cap for the Netherlands against Germany last November and also played three of his country’s four matches in this summer’s European Under-21 Championships.
If the deal is completed, van Ginkel will follow German forward Andre Schurrle as the Blues’ major captures of the close season.
