Chelsea boss unhappy with performance
Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo admitted he was unhappy with his side’s display following their 3-1 defeat at Brighton.
The Blues looked comfortable after Frank Lampard put them ahead, but Albion hit back to secure a deserved win in front of a crowd of over 17,000 at the Amex Stadium.
Di Matteo said: “I was expecting a little bit more from my team in terms of urgency – a little more movement and so on. I was looking for a better performance.
“We were too stretched and not aggressive enough. With the ball, it wasn’t good enough. A lot of things that we were looking for we didn’t do.
“There were individual errors which we can cut out when we get into the rhythm of the league and the fitness is there.
“We certainly have to be a little bit more focused. We need to be sharper and more aggressive.”
On a positive note for the Italian, a number of his players completed the whole 90 minutes, while Fernando Torres looked sharp while he was involved and John Terry featured for an hour.
“It’s now a case of bringing all the players together,” Di Matteo added.
“We were looking to get some players 90 minutes today which is important, which we did do.”
