Chelsea boss plays down title chances

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho continued to play down their title chances after the stunning win at Manchester City.

Branislav Ivanovic’s first-half goal gave the Blues a victory that took them level on points with second-placed City, two points behind leaders Arsenal.

It also ended City’s 100% home record in the Premier League this season and was the first time they failed to score in a league game at the Etihad Stadium since November 2010.

“We love the big games. When you love it maybe you feel extra-motivated,” said Mourinho.

Ivanovic scored Chelsea’s winner.

“We came here and played against the leaders and we deserved it. It was a very good victory. It was special.”

But he added: “There are two horses and then a little horse – a little horse that still needs milk and work and to learn how to jump.

“There are two big horses and the last horse – a horse that next season can race.”

And Mourinho reserved special praise for Eden Hazard, whose wonderful form continues.

City simply could not handle the Belgian playmaker, who was exceptional once again.

Mourinho said: “He still has to improve but he is probably the best young player in the world.”
