Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has hinted that Cesar Azpilicueta is likely to stay in the side after the Spaniard impressed in the 2-2 draw against West Brom.
Azpilicueta played out of position at left-back for the second game running after England full-back Cole was dropped following the recent defeat at Newcastle.
Mourinho was unhappy with Cole’s display against the Magpies and appears to be in no rush to restore him to the team.
He said: “Azpilicueta is playing very well. Let’s see what happens next week, but he played well against Schalke and he played very well again with zero mistakes.
“I didn’t like his [Cole’s] performance against Newcastle so made a change and the answer from Azpi was good and I didn’t feel I had any reason to leave him out.”
