Chelsea confirm signing of ex-Fulham keeper Bettinelli
Chelsea have confirmed the signing of former Fulham goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli on a two-year contract.
The Blues had been looking to add a back-up keeper to their squad following the departure of Willy Caballero.
And they decided to bring in Bettinelli, who recently left Fulham when his contract at Craven Cottage expired.
The 29-year-old joined Fulham at the age of 14 and made 120 first-team appearances for the Whites.
He spent last season on loan at Middlesbrough.
Bettinelli told Chelsea’s website: “It’s always been a special club. I know the area very well so it’s been a dream of mine to come over to this side and it’s finally happened.
“There were some talks a few years ago when I was a bit younger and for whatever reason that didn’t come about but I’m here now.
“I’m really excited to be involved and looking forward to trying to impress and help the team as much as I can.”
