Chelsea assessing Cahill injury problem

Chelsea are assessing an injury suffered by Gary Cahill during the closing minutes of their 1-1 draw at West Brom.

The England central defender picked up a knock and was clearly struggling in the build-up to Victor Anichebe’s 87th-minute equaliser for Albion.

He was barely able to complete the game as Chelsea were left clinging on in the final stages.

Manager Jose Mourinho said immediately after the match that he was not sure what the nature of Cahill’s injury was, but added: “He is a brave guy and we coped with the situation.”

Cahill played alongside David Luiz at the back, with skipper John Terry again missing out with a muscle problem.

Mourinho expects Terry to be available for Saturday’s FA Cup game against Manchester City.
