Chelsea’s Kiwomya cleared to return to Crewe
Chelsea youngster Alex Kiwomya has been given the green light to return to Crewe and could be back in action in three weeks.
The 20-year-old has impressed since joining Crewe on loan from the Blues but recently suffered a shoulder injury in a match against Grimsby.
He returned to Chelsea to be assessed and it was feared that he could face a long spell on the sidelines, but the injury is not as serious as it first appeared.
“He’s back with us and he’s going to step up his running over the next week,” Crewe manager Steve Davis told the League Two club’s website.
“The week after he’ll do a little bit of non-contact training, then the week after that he’ll join in.
“We’re looking at three weeks now all being well, with the strength work included to see how it settles down.
“That’s good news. I thought it was going to be a lot longer than that.
“We’re pleased with that sort of timescale because I thought we missed him at the weekend, so we’ll gladly have him back.”
Kiwomya is due to stay with Crewe until January.
