Chelsea have confirmed they have agreed the signing of Radamel Falcao on a season-long loan from Monaco.
The 29-year-old Colombian striker spent last season on loan at Manchester United and only netted four times in 26 Premier League games.
But he was prolific in his previous spells at Porto and Atletico Madrid, scoring 142 goals in 178 appearances over five years.
This included a first-half hat-trick against Chelsea for Atletico in the 2012 Uefa Super Cup final.
Chelsea were interested in signing him prior to his move to Old Trafford and made their move after United rejected the chance to sign him on a permanent deal.
“I am very happy to be joining Chelsea and can’t wait to start training and help with our aim of retaining the league title and being successful in Europe,” he said.
Midfielder Mario Pasalic, 20, will spend the season on loan with Monaco as part of the deal.
