Chelsea’s development side endured a frustrating Friday evening as Leicester held on for goalless draw in their Premier League 2 meeting at Aldershot.
The Blues youngsters dominated throughout, particularly in the first half, and there several impressive performers despite the lack of goals. Here are three who stood out.
His searing pace poses a threat for any defence but he has the quality and calmness to pick out a pass when he gets into dangerous areas. He came close to scoring after an intelligent run into the box and the winger remained a menace even when Chelsea’s general level dipped during a less dominant second period.
He was the outstanding midfielder from the first whistle, breaking up play and using his pace and power with great effect. But his obvious physical presence was far from all he contributed. He barely wasted a pass and was always looking to instigate attacks whenever possible, rather than just retain possession.
Another impressive display from the centre-forward, whose trickery and direct running caused problems throughout. He was desperately unfortunate not to score with a fine right-foot curler that hit the post and he also created two excellent chances on his own with some nifty footwork and.
