Boss confirms Lukaku is set for loan move

Roberto Di Matteo has confirmed that Chelsea plan to send Romelu Lukaku on loan to another Premier League side.

A number of clubs have enquired about the Belgian striker, whose first-team opportunities at Stamford Bridge have been limited.

Blues boss Di Matteo was keen to look at Lukaku in pre-season before deciding the player’s short-term future and has decided that a loan deal would be the best option.

He said: “I think he will go out on loan. At this stage of his career for him the most important aspect is to play every week and gain more experience and football time.

“That might be more difficult with us so it might be a better choice to go out on loan.”

Fulham have been linked with the 19-year-old, while West Brom and Stoke City have shown an interest.
