Boss backs Terry after leaving him out
Roberto Di Matteo gave John Terry his full backing after deciding to leave the Blues skipper out of Wednesday’s Champions League victory over Shakhtar Donetsk.
Terry was available for the game at Stamford Bridge and had been tipped to return to the starting line-up.
Di Matteo instead opted against including the defender, believing him to be short of match fitness because of his four-game domestic ban.
And he insisted Terry will lead the side again once his suspension has been completed.
“John Terry is a massive player for us,” the Chelsea boss declared.
“We’re glad he’s back and available for us. He is going to be our leader going forward.”
