Roberto Di Matteo insists Chelsea will look to score in the Nou Camp rather than simply protect their 1-0 lead from the first leg.
Barcelona remain favourites to prevail in tonight’s Champions League semi-final clash, but Didier Drogba’s goal at Stamford Bridge means the Blues have fighting chance of progressing.
And their chances would dramatically increase if they net an away goal, which interim boss Di Matteo believes they are capable of doing.
He said: “Ultimately, Barcelona will create chances against any team and we will have to try to score a goal, but we will also try to limit the chances they can create against us.
“It’s too difficult to play for a goalless draw. To score would give us a greater advantage but we all know how difficult it will be.”
Di Matteo has also shrugged off the fact that a number of his players are a yellow card away from a European suspension.
A booking for Ramires, Ashley Cole, Raul Meireles or Branislav Ivanovic would mean they would will miss the final if Chelsea overcome Barca.
“We cannot be thinking about that,” said Di Matteo.
“Whatever happens happens – you cannot speculate on bookings. The players must be fully focused on their tasks and their responsibilities in the game.”
