Under-fire interim manager Rafael Benitez insists he is unfazed by the anger directed at him by Chelsea fans during the defeat against Swansea.
Wednesday night’s 2-0 reverse in the Capital One Cup semi-final first leg was the Blues’ second home loss in the space of a week, coming after QPR’s win at Stamford Bridge.
Benitez, unpopular among the Chelsea faithful from his time as Liverpool boss, was barracked during and after the match.
But he believes the reaction would have been very different had the team managed to convert their chances.
Asked about the criticism from fans, Benitez said: “You [the media] analyse all these things because we lost.
“If we’d scored one or two goals everything would be different. We are doing some things really well.
“We have to keep winning if we can. The team is doing a lot of good things and hopefully we can continuing improving.”
Chelsea dominated much of the game before going behind after a mistake by Branislav Ivanovic, who made another error for the potentially decisive second goal.
“Play this game 10 times and maybe you will win nine times,” Benitez argued.
