Benitez feels vindicated over Torres
Rafael Benitez was full of praise for his Chelsea side after they swept past Sunderland to record their first Premier League victory since October.
And the interim manager was of course pleased for Fernando Torres, having predicted while the striker was struggling that he would find his scoring touch if the team as a whole improved.
Torres netted twice in the 3-1 win to take his goal tally to four in two games, while compatriot Juan Mata added the third.
Benitez said: “It was a great performance. I am pleased for the team, for the fans and everyone at the club.
“He [Torres] is doing well because the team is helping him. The team was in control for a long, long time.
“I said before that if we create more chances he will score more goals.”
