Benitez keen to improve home form
Interim manager Rafael Benitez is hoping Chelsea can sort out their stuttering home form following another emphatic away win.
The Blues’ 4-0 victory at Stoke left them third in the table and was a welcome boost following home defeats against QPR and Swansea.
Breaking teams down at Stamford Bridge has sometimes been a problem under Benitez, making the upcoming home games against Arsenal and Southampton hugely important if Chelsea are to seriously challenge for the title.
“The way we played against Swansea, we created a lot of chances,” Benitez explained.
“The question is the approach of the other teams. Swansea normally have possession in their games but we had control of the game and they were deep, playing the counter-attack.
“That does makes it more difficult and so you have to be more precise.”
Chelsea’s class told against Stoke and they were helped by two own goals from Jon Walters, which put the visitors firmly in control.
But Benitez said: “It was a difficult game, especially in the first half. We knew it would be.
“We knew it would be physical and intense but we were ready for that.”
