Baba challenged to bounce back
Baba Rahman has been told he needs to respond positively to being hauled off at half-time during Chelsea’s win at Southampton.
The Ghanaian left-back was replaced by Kenedy after his mistake led to Chelsea going behind at St Mary’s.
Boss Guus Hiddink, who previously suggested that Baba needed to improve the defensive side of his game, has since spoken to him about his performance at the weekend.
Hiddink said: “We have talked to him. Of course he was upset and you have seen the image on the pitch when he put the shirt over his face and he thought ‘Oh what did I do?’
“At half-time he was sitting in the dressing room and he was down. That is why we made the change, but not the only reason why.
“He has to recover. He did some decent play in the recent games but we like to be critical because it is also obvious that defensively you have to do your job as well.”
