Tammy Abraham has joined Aston Villa on a season-long loan from Chelsea.
The striker, 20, opted to make the move ahead of loan window closing after being told his first-team prospects would be slim were he to remain at Chelsea.
Meanwhile, the Blues have loaned defender Michael Hector to Sheffield Wednesday, also for the season.
Having spent last season on loan at Swansea City in the Premier League and the previous campaign in the Championship on loan at Bristol City, Abraham had to decide whether to drop back down to the second tier.
“I’m excited for this new chapter,” the England international told Villa’s website.
“Aston Villa are a big club that belongs in the Premier League and I’m here to help them achieve that.
“At this stage of my career, I need games and this is a great place for me to come and showcase my talent. I can’t wait to get started.”
Speaking at a media conference earlier on Friday, Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri indicated that Abraham would make the move.
“It’s up to him. I am not able to guarantee a spot for him at the moment,” Sarri said.
“But if he wants to remain, I am very happy with him because he is very young and he can improve more. It’s up to him.”
