Fran Kirby scored twice as Chelsea Ladies stormed into the semi-finals of the Women’s Champions League with a 5-1 aggregate win over Montpellier.

The Blues led 2-0 after an impressive first-leg victory in France and were always in control in front of a record Chelsea Ladies home crowd of 3,050 at Kingsmeadow, where a 3-1 win took them through.

England striker Kirby intercepted a wayward pass and ran through a couple of challenges before finding the bottom corner for the opening goal.

Former Chelsea Sofia Jacobsson equalised against her former side with a looping shot to give the visitors hope before the interval.

But Ramona Bachmann’s cool finish from Kirby’s pass made it 2-1 on the night.

And Kirby added a third from the penalty spot after Ji So-Yun’s trickery saw her felled in the box.

Chelsea will face Wolfsburg, who beat them in last season’s competition, in the last four.
