Chelsea Ladies reach quarter-finals with 8-0 win
Rosella Ayane scored four times and Marija Banusic netted a hat-trick as Chelsea Ladies demolished London Bees 8-0 to reach the quarter-finals of the Continental Cup.
Laura Rafferty also scored for Emma Hayes’ side in the match at Staines, where Ayane came on as a substitute and completed a hat-trick in the space of 20 minutes – four days after Fran Kirby netted a 10-minute hat-trick for Chelsea against Millwall Lionesses.
Banusic got two early goals, both after being set up by Ana Borges, before Rafferty pounced on the loose ball to score after Banusic’s free-kick had been parried.
Swedish forward Banusic made it 4-0 when she completed her hat-trick before half-time and Ayane, 19, ran riot after the break.
The team return to league action when they face Notts County in a vital home game at Staines next Sunday.
Hayes’ side are closing in on the title – they are three points clear at the top of WSL1 with three matches left to play.
