Chelsea Ladies thrash Villa to reach semi-finals
Ji So-Yun scored a hat-trick as holders Chelsea cruised into the semi-finals of the Women’s FA Cup by thrashing Aston Villa 6-0.
There were also goals for Drew Spence, Fran Kirby and Eni Aluko in a totally one-sided quarter-final.
Ji and Blues striker Karen Carney hit the post before Spence opened the scoring for the hosts six minutes before half-time by firing into the top right-hand corner after being found by Kirby’s pass.
Kirby was also involved in the second goal, which arrived five minutes after the interval.
Gemma Davison found the England forward with a lovely pass and Kirby unselfishly teed up Ji, who tapped in from close range.
Kirby’s cool finish, again after good work by Davison, made it 3-0, and Ji made it four after being set up by Spence.
Eluko’s chip made it five and Ji then completed her hat-trick with a thumping strike.
