Chelsea Ladies move closer to title after win at Arsenal

Chelsea Ladies moved three points clear at the top of Women’s Super League 1 with a 2-0 win at Arsenal.

Gemma Davison sealed victory for the visitors with a second-half penalty after an early own goal by Vicky Losada.

It leaves Emma Hayes’ side in a commanding position with three matches of the season left to play.

Losada directed Gilly Flaherty’s header past her own keeper in the eighth minute after Chelsea had just gone close when Eniola Aluko’s header was cleared off the line.

Chelsea were put under pressure in the second half but still posed a threat through Fran Kirby, who fired one effort narrowly over and saw another well saved.

And after Kirby was fouled in the area by Emma Mitchell, Davison made no mistake from the spot.
