Wright-Phillips says Brentford would grace the Championship
Bradley Wright-Phillips believes Brentford’s young squad are good enough for the Championship.
A victory at home to second-placed Doncaster in this weekend’s final-day showdown would see the Bees leapfrog Rovers and win automatic promotion.
And striker Wright-Phillips, who is on loan from Charlton, is excited to be part of what could be an historic day at Griffin Park.
“It’s an exciting time to be at this club – to be a part of some history here,” he told West London Sport.
“This squad is capable of playing in the Championship. They might be young but they are mature and there are some top-quality players here that will go on to big things.
“Brentford play very good football. I remember coming here with Charlton last season and we got passed off the park.
“It is not as big a difference in the Championship as people think.
“Football-wise Brentford will be fine, there are just a few more better players in each team up there, that’s all.”
Wright-Phillips’ 22 goals helped fire Charlton to the League One title last season and he wants to use that experience to help Brentford secure Championship football.
“I’ve experienced it before and I want to use that to influence the game,” he explained.
“I want to lead by example – do my part for these players who haven’t experienced it before, because nothing will make them happier for a long time if they go up.
“It’s something you have got to give your all to. I have no doubts whoever plays on Saturday will give 100%.
“Everyone is pulling in the same direction – the right direction.”
