Bees battle to deserved point at Wolves
Wolves 0 Brentford 0
Brentford became only the third team this season to avoid defeat at Molineux and extended their unbeaten league run to six matches.
In an end-to-end first half between two in-form sides, Leigh Griffiths hit the post for Wolves, while Adam Forshaw and Clayton Donaldson went close for the Bees.
The Brentford defence stood firm against a Wolves attack that hadn’t drawn a blank in League One since the opening day of the season.
And Uwe Rosler’s men also enjoyed the better of the chances as Will Grigg fired narrowly wide and Wolves keeper Carl Ikeme saved well from Alan McCormack.
The result ends Brentford’s run of six straight wins in all competitions but they will be delighted with their display at one of the promotion favourites.
They had to weather an early storm, with Griffiths and strike partner Kevin Doyle linking up well, and the Scot struck the woodwork during a frantic opening 15 minutes.
Within moments, Brentford almost went in front but Forshaw couldn’t convert after evading the Wolves defence.
Griffiths was denied by Bees keeper David Button and also shot wide, while Donaldson fired wide at the other end.
