Wigan make approach for Bees boss
Wigan have asked Brentford for permission to speak to boss Uwe Rosler about the vacant manager’s job at the DW Stadium.
The former Manchester City striker, whose family home is in the North West, is in the frame to succeed Owen Coyle, who left the Championship club this week.
Brentford are likely to demand significant compensation before allowing the 45-year-old German to leave.
Rosler, who took over at Griffin Park in 2011, is under contract until the summer of 2015.
News of Wigan’s approach came hours before Brentford hope to receive the green light from Hounslow Council to build a 20,000-capacity stadium at Lionel Road.
Rosler almost led them to promotion last season, when they lost out to Doncaster on the final day and were then beaten by Yeovil in the League One play-off final.
After a shaky spell this term, Rosler’s side are fourth in the table and unbeaten in nine matches.
