Warburton keeping feet on the ground

Boss Mark Warburton warned against soaring expectations after his Brentford side thrashed Wolves 4-0 to go third in the Championship.

It was the Bees’ fifth straight victory and put them within a point of league leaders Derby.

Brentford have beaten a string of high-profile sides this season, including Leeds, Derby, Nottingham Forest and Fulham, and excitement is building about a possible play-off push.

Warburton admitted his exciting young side are brimming with confidence – but said they cannot afford to let their performance levels drop.

He said: “We’ve shown that when we play well we don’t fear anyone.

“We can’t go into a game worried about an opponent. We’ve got to make sure we impose our style and let them worry about us.

“We’re in a good place but if you dip your standards in this division you get hurt.

“At Middlesbrough we had one bad half of football and got battered 4-0. But that’s what happens in this division and we have to have that in the back of our mind.

“We’ll try and maintain a level of performance and see where it leaves us in May.”
