Former Liverpool left-back Gregory Vignal’s chances of securing a move to Brentford appear to have been ruined by a hamstring injury.
The 31-year-old Frenchman, who has also had spells with Portsmouth, Southampton and Birmingham, would like to play in England again and joined the Bees on trial this week.
But he limped off during the first half of Tuesday’s friendly at Wycombe – much to the disappointment of Brentford boss Uwe Rosler and the player himself.
Rosler said: “We’re looking for a left-back and you could see straightaway that he [Vignal] is calm on the ball and knows how to handle himself. He’s a good player.
“I feel very sorry for the lad. He pulled his hamstring and unfortunately now we can’t take it any further forward for the moment.”
The injury is particularly untimely given that on Wednesday morning Brentford seemed no closer to securing Jake Bidwell’s return to Griffin Park.
Bidwell impressed while on loan from Everton last season and Rosler is keen to have him back.
