Two for Judge as Brentford beat Huddersfield

Brentford's Alan Judge celebrates scoring their third goal

Brentford 4 Huddersfield Town 2

Alan Judge took his tally for the season to 10 with a brace that inspired Brentford to victory at Griffin Park.

Most of the hard work was done in the first 35 minutes as Dean Smith’s side scored three times in a dominant performance.

Huddersfield responded with a goal early in the second half but a Judge penalty confirmed the Bees’ superiority.

Brentford were ahead after five minutes following a neat move involving Judge, Vibe and John Swift, who set up Liverpool loanee Sergi Canos for the opener.

Lasse Vibe, just minutes after shooting straight at Jed Steer, did beat the Terriers keeper to score the second after being sent away by James Tarkowski.

And just after the half-hour mark, Judge floated in a free-kick that beat everyone inside the box and went straight in.

Huddersfield made two changes at the break, including bringing on Nahki Wells, and he made an immediate impact by setting up Joe Lolley to net.

The goalscorer had another go after a strong run by Kyle Dempsey but his deflected shot was saved by Bees keeper David Button.

However, just as Huddersfield threatened a revival, referee Paul Gibbs awarded Brentford a penalty after Ben Chilwell’s challenge on Judge.

The winger converted from 12 yards to reach double figures for the first time in his career.

Maxime Colin, playing his first game in three months after recovering from injury, fired over while at the other end Wells twice saw shots go narrowly wide.

Late in the game, Steer saved in a one-on-one from Bees substitute Jota, and Huddersfield did reduce the damage in injury time with Dempsey’s goal but Brentford were comfortable winners.
