Brentford midfielder Adam Forshaw says the League One title is Wolves’ to lose – but believes his side can still finish top.
Kenny Jackett’s team lead the division by two points ahead of second-placed Leyton Orient, while Brentford are a further point behind in third with 12 games of the season remaining.
Wolves’ position was strengthened by their recent 3-0 win over the Bees at Griffin Park.
But Forshaw told West London Sport: “We didn’t let that defeat affect us at all. We have won our last two home games and drew at Carlisle.
“It’s Wolves’ title to lose. Being the big club they are and being top of the league, the pressure is on them.
“But we want to win the title and I think we are in a great position. It would mean so much to us and these players deserve it, not just because we should have gone up last year, but because of their great performances this season.”
Brentford travel across the capital on Saturday for a huge promotion clash with Orient, knowing a victory would take them above the east London side.
And Forshaw, who has returned to full fitness after a back problem, says the O’s are also under pressure.
“Orient need to beat us because if we win then we’ll be a point above them with two games in hand and there will be some daylight between us,” he explained.
“We believe we can go there and win. The whole team is feeling great at the moment and positive about chasing for the title. It would be a big result.”
