Teenage striker hits hat-trick as Brentford youngsters beat Reading
A hat-trick from Raphael Assibey-Mensah saw Brentford B defeat a Reading XI 4-1 in a friendly on Monday.
Assibey-Mensah, signed from Mainz last month, opened the scoring after just two minutes, having received the ball from Bradley Clayton.
The Royals levelled on 33 minutes, somewhat against the run of play, as Bees defender Ilias Chatzitheodoridis underhit a backpass and Harry Cardwell pounced, before taking it round Dominic Kurasik and sliding home.
But 17-year-old Assibey-Mensah made it 2-1 shortly afterwards when he was set up by Emmanuel Onariase.
And he completed his hat-trick 10 minutes after the break, tucking away a penalty after Danny Parish was fouled.
Parish completed the scoring midway through the second half while James Ferry had a shot saved late on.
