Tarkowski scores own goal in Bees loss

Wolves 2 Brentford 1

An own goal by the unfortunate James Tarkowski summed up a frustrating day for Brentford at Molinuex.

Trailing to Nouha Dicko’s early goal, the Bees fell further behind 17 minutes from the end.

Wolves’ Kevin McDonald  was then sent off for a second bookable offence and Danny Batth’s late own goal gave Mark Warburton’s side hope but they were unable to find an equaliser, with Andre Gray hitting the post in injury time.

Brentford almost took the lead early on when Jota’s strike was tipped on to the post by keeper Carl Ikeme – and they conceded the opening goal soon afterwards.

Kortney Hause launched the ball forward and Dicko beat the offside trap and fired past keeper David Button.

Alex Pritchard went close to levelling the score before Wolves benefited from a huge slice of luck when the ball ricocheted in off Tarkowski.

And after Baath deflected Jake Bidwell’s cross into his own net, Gray so nearly rescued a point.
