Summer signings Jan Holldack and Ryan Williams both played 90 minutes as Brentford’s Under-21s were beaten 3-1 at Hull.
The Bees took the lead in the eighth minute when James Ferry fired in from fully 30 yards.
Hull almost responded in kind but Jarrod Bowen’s shot from a similar distance flew just over the bar.
However, the home side did draw level late in the first half as Will Annan’s shot was deflected off Daniel O’Shaughnessy past Brentford keeper Mark Smith.
Hull were the stronger team after the break but the Bees held out until 14 minutes from time when Conor Townsend’s free-kick whistled into the net, before Jarrod Bowen’s goal completed the victory.
